New York Fashion Week Event Recap
This year’s fashion week in New York City for Spring/Summer 2020 has already been flying by! Luckily, we took some time out to mix and mingle with some lovely fashionistas at our NYFW kick off event co-hosted with one of our favorite bloggers Austen Tosone. We had so much fun with our customers as well as with some new friends we made! We started the day with an Instagram Story takeover by Austen, which you can view on our Instagram highlights. Since starting her namesake brake in 1910, it’s no surprise that Chanel has become the iconic fashion label that it is today. “Camp: Notes on Fashion” Exhibition Recap
After being dazzled by this year’s annual Met Gala red carpet, we just had to take a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibition, which opened on May 9. The whimsical display at the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall takes you through a pink hallway and ushers you into the historical visual timeline of the word “camp.” The origin of camp includes the exclusive red soled heels of the aristocratic French court to garments inspired by campy author Oscar Wilde.
Michael's Consignment Hangs out with the NYC Dog Mom
Megan Rose is one of the co-founders of Gal’s Best Friend: a website focusing on the women who love the dogs in their lives. Founded by three best friends and dog moms who now live in different areas around the country, Megan is our local NYC dog mom and puppy guru! Megan is the go-to of all things dog related in New York City; her own three pups Pharell, Rosie, and Rumba follow her around like groupies. Megan has even been featured on The Dodo where she shared her rescue of Rumba while she was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. We dressed Megan up in a gorgeous pale blue Ralph Lauren dress paired with Robert Clergerie flats, and accessorized her pups in color coordinating Hermes scarves. These three rescue pups have come so far thanks to Megan; from homeless to Hermes!

Following the Met Gala theme from the first Monday in May, we here at Michael’s were of course inspired by the Notes on Camp theme. Once we came across Emily Polner and her blog No Repeats or Hesitations, it was a match made in Camp heaven.

Diane Keaton, the Academy and Golden Globe Award winning actress, is no rookie to the fashion game. Since her role as Annie Hall in 1977, she has influenced women’s fashion. Diane Keaton was a fashion influencer before they even existed. Now, celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and and Sarah Jessica Parker are fans of her Instagram.
